Müzik çal??maya 1970’te 10 ya??nda ba?lad?.

He began to study music at the age of 10 in 1970.

1978’te Milan Konservatuar? Trombon ve Beste’den mezun olduktan sonra pek çok farkl? müzik yapt?: klasik müzik, ça?da? müzik, özgün enstrümanlar?yla eski müzikler, caz, do?açlama, Latin Amerika Müzi?i(Salsa) , Kletzmer ve Balcan müzi?i.

After graduating in Trombone and Composition at the Milan Conservatory in 1978 he played professionally on many different kind of music: Classic Music, Contemporary Music, Early Music on original instruments, Jazz, Improvisation, Latino American Music (Salsa) and Kletzmer and Balcanic Music.

Hala pek çok türü profesyonel olarak icra ediyor.

He still performs professionally on several styles.

1986’da Hindistan’a yapt??? mesleki bir tur s?ras?nda iyi bir sitar ve tabla sat?n ald? ve kendi kendine sitar çal??maya ba?lad?.

On 1986 on a professional tour to India he bought a good Sitar and Tablas and began studying the Sitar with a self teaching method.

1987de bir arkada?? bir ney taksimleri kaseti ald?.

On 1987 a friend of his had a cassette with some ney improvisations.

Çalan Sadreddin ÖZÇ?M?’ydi fakat isme  dikkat etmemi?ti.

The performer was Sadreddin ÖZÇ?M?, but he didn’t noticed the name.

Müzik öyle ho?una gitti ki 25 dakikal?k icran?n bir kopyas?n? bir teyp kasetinin her iki yüzüne de çekti ve otomatik kasetçalarda günlerce tekrar tekrar dinledi.

He enjoyed the music so much that he made a copy of the 25 minutes performance on both sides of a cassette tape and had it playing over and over for long days on a loop in an automatic cassette player.

Ev karanl?k oldu?unda her zaman müzik odas?ndan neyin sesi geliyordu.

When the house was in darkness the sound of the ney was always coming from the music room.

1988’e müzik yapmak için Berlin’e gitti.

In 1988 he went to Berlin to play some music.

Hususi bir dükkâna myhr ya?? bulmak için gitti, buldu ve masan?n üzerinde ?ehirdeki Sufi Tekkesiyle ilgili bir reklâm gördü.

He went to an esoteric shop to try to find some Myhr oil, which he found, and on the table he saw some advertising about a Sufi Tekke in town.

Ney bulabilir miyim diye bakmaya gitti.

He went to see if he could find a Ney.

Tekke, yak?nlardaki eski ve bo?alt?lm?? bir fabrikan?n üst kat?ndayd? ve fabrika oldukça eski ve terkedilmi? olmas?na ra?men Tekkenin büyük, bo? daireleri düzenli, temiz ve ayd?nl?kt?; eskinin üzerinde yeni duruyorlard?.

The Tekke was on the upper floor of an old dismantled factory nearby and while the factory was quite old and abandoned the large empty apartments of the Tekke were neat and clean and full of light: they seemed new on top of the old;Tekke

Alman bir rahip vard?. Sadece onu gördü ve ona neyi sordu.

There was a German priest there, he saw only him and he asked him about neys.

Kam??larla ve tipik a??zl?kla dolu silindirik bir kutuyla geri döndü ve bir kez denemesini söyledi.

He came back with a cilindric container full of reeds with the typical mouthpiece and asked him to try once.

Tabii ki ses ç?karamad?.

Of course he could not make e sound.

Rahip ona ney dizindeyken (oturmadan) bir pozisyon ö?retti ve o da uzun süre üflemeye çal??t?.

He taught him a position to play the ney on his knees (not sitting) and he tried to blow it for quite a while.

Onun ses ç?kar?p ç?karmad???n? hat?rlam?yor, neyzen olup olmad???ndan emin de?il ama belki yar?m saat denemeden sonra  denedi?i neyden bir k?sa ses ç?kt? ve rahip neyi almas?n? ve daha sonra geri getirmesini söyleyerek enstrüman? ona verdi .

He cannot remember if he made sounds, he thinks he was not the player, but after may be half an hour trying one short sound came out of the ney he was trying and the priest gave him the instrument telling him to keep it and that he would bring it back another time.

1989da bir orkestrada çalmak için iki y?ll???na Milan’dan Paris’e ta??nd?.;Paris’te Kutsi ERGUNER ile tan??t? ve Montreuil’deki Mevlana merkezine birkaç kez  ney derslerine daha çok dinleyerek ve törenleri ve toplant?lar? gözlemleyerek  kat?ld?.

In 1989 he moved from Milan to Paris for 2 years to play in an orchestra; In Paris he meet Kutsi ERGUNER and went at the Mevlana Center in Montreuil for Ney lessons a few times, mainly listening and observing the cerimonies and meetings.

Bu süreçte ayr?ca David HYKES ile armonik müzik çal??t?.

In that period he also studied Harmonic Singing (Overtone singing) with David HYKES.

1991 de Kaliforniya’dayken ormanda  The Lark In the Morning ad?nda bir dükkandan ilk mansur neyini ald?.

In 1991 while in California he found his first Mansur ney at a shop in the forest called The Lark In the Morning.

Temiz bir enstrümand? ama profesyonel bir ney de?ildi.

It was a decent instrument but not a professional one.

O s?rada ayr?ca eski Çin kanunu(sitar) Guqin’i biliyordu ve Paris’te ö?renmeye ba?lad?.

At that time he also knew about the Ancient Chinese Zither Guqin and he began to study it back in Paris.

1993’te bir konser için Berlin’e döndü ve gelirken ilk neyi rahibe geri getirdi. Eski fabrika hala oradayd?, üst kat hala iyi durumdayd? ancak bo?tu; sufiler ta??nm??t?, nereye bilmiyordu.

In 1993 he went back to Berlin for a concert and brought back the first ney to the priest: the old factory was still there but the upper floor was in good shape still but empty; the Sufis have moved he doesn’t know where.

Ayn? y?l Gugin çal??mak için Çin’e ta??nd? ve orada 2,5 y?l ya?ad?.

The same year he moved to China to study the Guqin, and lived there for two years and a half.

Avrupa’ya  geri dönüp Venedik’te ya?ad?.

Back to Europe he went to live in Venice.

Oradan sonra ilk kez ?stanbul’u ziyaret etti ve kald??? otel, Yunus Emre’de, onu ilk yar? profesyonel K?z neyini ald??? ney hocas? Hanefi KIRGIZ’la tan??t?ran Japon bir ney ö?rencisi vard?.

From there he visited Istanbul for the first time and in the hotel where he was staying, the Junus Emre, there was a Japanese ney student that introduced him to his teacher, Hanefi KIRGIZ from which he bought his first semi-professional K?z ney.

Ayr?ca  Suleyman ERGUNER ve Hamet Kaia metodlar?n? buldu ve makam çal??maya ba?lad?.

he also found Süleyeman ERGUNER and Hamet Kaia methods, and begun to study the makam.

Daha sonra Mehmet YÜCEL’in çok yararl? sitesini buldu ve enstrümantal müzikleri indirdi ve elektronik enstrümanlar?n yard?m?yla aral?klar? da çal??arak farkl? makamlar? çal??t?.

Later he found the very useful site of Mehmet YÜCEL and downloaded the instrumental music and practiced the different makams, also studying the intervals helping himself with electronic instruments.

Bazen konserlerinde kendi müzi?ini do?açlarken gugin, ses ve trampetle birlikte ney de çal?yor.

Sometimes he plays the ney in his concerts of his own music improvising on it together with guqin, voice and trumpet.
